The road to recovery was a long one but it was finally done for the most part. The doctor who was treating her declared her well enough to return back home to Ponyville and go back to her normal life. But there was a few hiccups such as remembering any off world ponies before her unfortunate accident. But despite her long absence, she had been kept up to date with events and anything of note to her friends. The poor dears had to be worried sick about her! But fret not, Rarity was back and she would prefer it to stay that way.

Perhaps after setting her things back home she could look around and try to talk to somepony she knew. Maybe they could jog her memory back as well!

"Rarity!"

There's Applejack, galloping right over with a grin on her face.

"Thank goodness I still know somepony 'round here! I was starting to think I'd lost my marbles," she laughed, taking in the sight of a familiar yet just-too-different Ponyville. "When did all these newfolks move in?"

[prissyhooves]

Oh thank goodness it's a familiar face! Rarity didn't want to scare Applejack away with all the crazy that was her life for the past couple of months.

"Oh Applejack! It is so wonderful to see you again!" she nearly squealed in delight at her friend. "I have heard that newponies have been coming in for over a year! It's hard to imagine!"

[appletastic]

"Over a year?"

Now Applejack was mighty confused. "I don't remember any of that. I just remember us fighting Lord Tirek and then helping Twi settle into her new castle---but the castle's not here. Did I miss something?"

[prissyhooves]

"Tirek...? Who's that? And since when did Twilight have a castle?"

...uh oh, this isn't the pony you're looking for.

[appletastic]

"Evil overlord, took the magic from all the ponies in Equestria, remember? The other princesses had to give all their power to Twi, and she gave hers up to save Discord? And then we unlocked another form of magic to beat him?"

This is weird. Why doesn't anything make sense?

[prissyhooves]

...did Celestia keep something from her?

"I'm surprised that happened; it would've been all over Equestria here!" Rarity gasped, knowing that Applejack wouldn't lie about anything like this. "But nopony has even heard of this Tirek person...maybe that Zetta or Zedd fellow but never him."

[appletastic]

"Zetta? Zedd? Nope, never heard of 'em."

Now Applejack's totally confused.

"Did we both hit our heads?"

[prissyhooves]

"Well one of them had the nerve to attack the town at least twice from what I heard. Not to mention how undeniably tacky the designs for those wretched monsters seemed to be. And don't get me started on Zedd himself!"

Despite everything and how dire the situation was, Rarity had to mention on how gaudy looking the creatures were and even the villain involved. Priorities indeed.

[appletastic]

"Somepony's trying to hurt our town and that's what you're worried about?"

Oh Rarity. Never change. Applejack sighs. "Do you know if everypony got out okay?"

[prissyhooves]

"Somepony has to! I would believe none of them even knew what a bath was like before getting struck down by all the newponies in town."

Habits die hard.

"I would hope so, it would have been the media if something dreadful happened. I just know Hoovesweek would be all over it and more than likely twisting the words of innocent ponies around."

...her reading material in the hospital kinda stunk.

[appletastic]

"Hoovesweek?" Applejack turns up her nose, totally pulling a blank on that name. "Is that some kind of silly rumor mill?"

[prissyhooves]

"It might as well be." Rarity huffed. "It's almost like reliving the whole Gabby Gums idea except Sweetie Belle and her friends would never stoop so low unlike these ghastly blabbermouths."

Yes, gossip is ok in doses but the whole thing behind Hoovesweek left a sour taste in her mouth. There was a reason why nopony was talking about her recovery and this was the exact reason.

[appletastic]

"So, uh...don't read it? Couldn't anypony tell you what was really happening?" Applejack wonders. This could mean Rarity was in real trouble not to be able to fix that herself, right?

She can't help but worry.

[prissyhooves]

Oh boy...this was a little complicated to talk about. But it was Applejack, or at least A Applejack so she could tell her the little details, right? Besides, Rarity did hear of some other unicorn using them as kindling...as well as some changelings stealing them right from under the vendor's nose. Good for them.

"Er well...that was a bit complicated. I had just been released from the hospital in Canterlot and there wasn't much reading material..."

[appletastic]

"The hospital? What were you doing there so long?"

That definitely has Applejack worried. She runs a circle around her friend, looking for signs of injury.

Physically she looked fine. The bumps and bruises healed months ago.

"Well, I had an unfortunate accident a few months ago. While I'm alright physically, my mind isn't in the best of shape."

[pirateponyprincess]

If Rarity wants to talk to somepony familiar, she may be in luck, as Celestia herself is in town. ...Except with a fancy hat. And clothes that can be described as either 'vagabond' or 'ruffian'. Something's not right here, but the pirate will address her as if everything was perfectly normal.

"Hello, Rarity. How are you?"

Rarity looked up at the princess and her first instinct was to bow; she had lost some memories but not the ones that would have made her lose the ability to be polite.

"Princess! It is wonderful to see you again!"

But what in Equestria was she wearing...not that it wasn't stylish or anything, just rather new on the ruler.

[pirateponyprincess]

The fact that Rarity bowed signals to Celestia that this isn't Dame Rarity, but another.

"You must excuse me, but I am not the local Princess. She is still up in Canterlot. Regardless, it is good to see you again as well, Rarity."

[prissyhooves]

More like the one that had poofed and everyone has made weird conspiracy theories on how and why she vanished without a trace. But if this was not the native Celestia, then was she from a different universe just like the other version of herself?

"Not the local? So can I assume you're an offworlder as well?"

[pirateponyprincess]

"Oh, yes. From a different Equestria and then some." That whole story can be told later, though.

"What of you? Are you the one that was present when this whole mess started?"

[prissyhooves]

She would hope so! Unless the doctors made a terrible mistake...they wouldn't do that!

"Oh, um yes...apparently so. Things...have been a little hectic lately hasn't it?"

Flubbing in front of the princess...ugh, why was she such a fool?

It doesn't take much for Celestia to realize something's up. That was an odd way of phrasing it.

"...Is something the matter, Rarity? You seem troubled."

[prissyhooves]

Uh oh.

"N-Nothing is wrong Your Highness. I just seemed to be feeling a little under the weather today!"
