THE NIGHTMARE MEME

Congratulations! Whether through trickery, temptation, or plain old possession, your character has been corrupted by an ancient darkness, previously known only to the Princess of the Night. The Nightmare has just begun.

♦ Your character is now a Nightmare! How did they get to this point, and what do they plan to do with their newfound power? Doubtless, power is on their minds...and maybe eternal night wouldn't hurt either? Just a little bit?

♦ Oh no! Your character's friend is now a Nightmare version of themselves! Will you fight back or try to talk them down? You should probably avoid doing what Celestia did - unless you've got a thousand years to spare.

♦ You know what? Friendship IS magic! Being evil would be a lot more fun if your friends were with you - maybe you should try to lure them over to the dark side as well. Hint: try baking some cookies!

♦ Don't forget the aftercare! If you do manage to snap your friend out of Nightmarehood, you had best be on hoof for a whole lot of comforting afterwards. These things are never easy. Ask Luna, if thou hast doubts.

Nightmare Tails lets out a dark laugh at this as the dark purple parts of his armor starts glowing. A couple dark pillars shoot up from the ground to shield him.

He takes flight and summons several dark spears in the air. He lowers a hoof as the spears shoot downward towards Trixie.

Trixie's able to roll out of the way just in time. Thinking quickly, she takes ahold of the dark spears with her magic and whips them in the general direction of Tails. She then proceeds to use an enlargening spell on them to make them larger and have more weight.

He manages to dodge them as the spears hit the ceiling.

More dark pillar start popping up from the ground, aiming to try to hit her or at least make it harder for her to move around.

The pillars start to be successful in impeding Trixie's movement for a small amount of time, her bumping into a couple. But then again, part of Trixie's performances requires her to be a magician. As such, she uses the pillars to her advantage. She makes it so it seems as if she pops out from behind pillars randomly, as if she's teleporting.

Using that cover, she fires off a magic blast every now and then.

While that might buy her time, he's watchful enough to dodge the magic blasts. He responds by summoning more spears and shoot them towards her.

Sure she can use them against him and she can use the pillars to her advantage, but can she do both at the same time?

The thing is, Trixie's able to cast spells simultaneously. But it does make it somewhat obvious that Trixie isn't really teleporting.

He notices this and he stops summoning spears.

Instead, he searches for her and once he spots her, he dives down towards her to try to flying kick her.

Success! Trixie never saw it coming. The kick connects, sending her skidding across the floor a little with a yelp. Not one to surrender this easily, Trixie quickly stumbles back up and briefly covers her and the area around her in smoke. When it clears, there's thee Trixie's standing there. Which one is real and which ones are the illusions?

Why only choose one when he can attack all three?

He summons a dark sword and it floats in the air. He makes it slash downward at an angle so that it can, at least, try to strike all three of them at once.

Trixie yelps again as she tries to dodge, the sword grazing her and drawing blood. The other two illusions don't go away despite the sword going straight through them. What DOES happen is that Trixie dispels them a couple of seconds later due to that tactic failing.

With Tails so close, Trixie tries firing off a powerful magic blast at him.

He takes a direct hit, but the armor shields most of that blast.

If anything, it doesn't seem to have done very much.

He smirks widens, which doesn't help that he's got some very sharp teeth there.

"It's been rather entertaining seeing you struggle for your life so far, but you're clearly outmatched by me," he lands on the ground and folds his wings. "If you have any sense of self-preservation, I would suggest leaving now otherwise I would have to waste time killing a weakling like you."

Trixie hesitates. She clearly knows she's outmatched, and it shows. However, Trixie doesn't flee.

"...But this is supposed to be my redemption...! I can't forgive myself if I can't stop you..."

He makes a cold laugh at this. "Oh how cute. You really think that by acting the hero, you'll be forgiven of all your sins and suddenly you're a saint? Ha, how delusional."

He stares down at her to try to scare her.

"Doing one or more good things won't make up for the past. You're only running away from it. Like a scared dog with it's tail in-between their legs."

"I'm not asking for the forgiveness of others, but forgiveness of myself. I've stopped running away a long time ago, ever since I told the story of what I did when I wore The Alicorn Amulet.

Do you know who Andras is? It was my persona, however brief I had it. It made me realize that I need to confront my past misdeeds and face them head on. Up until now, I never knew how to do that, how to forgive myself.

What are you doing? Reveling in your problems? That's just as bad as running away from them."

The mentioning of personas causes him to start to feel his persona on the back of his mind, but the nightmares possessing him were blocking most of it away.

"Just embracing what I am. A monster.

It was you that opened my eyes to that, back at the Gala."

"That... that wasn't to get you to embrace it! If I wanted that, Then I would have embraced it, too! Look! I'm trying to do everything in my power to make things right!"

"Then what was it? To make yourself feel better? To kick me while I was down? That's not I would call 'making things right'."

Now he's trying to make her feel guilty on purpose to be a jerk and to try to get her to give up.

Part of it could be the real Tails influencing this or it could be that he's toying with her.

Trixie flounders over her words for a moment.

"I... you... you wearing that damned amulet didn't make me feel any better! It only served to remind me of how much a monster I was.

I don't want to be a monster."

"Oh but you are one. You only think of yourself and you kick others when they are down. That sounds pretty monstrous to me."

To be fair, he hardly knew her so it wasn't like he could use much against her other than his power.

"And that's why I'm trying to get redemption! You think I like feeling like a monster? Ever since The Alicorn Amulet, I've had nightmares about it. I want them to stop, I want to be able to look at myself in the mirror without any sort of self-hatred.

Don't you want the same thing!?"

"I am the nightmare and the nightmares are me. There is nothing for me to fear. Only you have plenty to fear about."

"You still hate yourself. I know. I hate myself, too. That;s our fear, but I'm trying to do something about it."

"I don't fear anything."

Some of Trixie's words were starting to stir more things in the back of his mind, but again, the nightmares that are possessing him are blocking it.

"So what is it going to be? Flee and lose your 'redemption' or death?"
