I suppose it all depends on how I meet a person, whether they speak to me, or if it is from afar. If they are close, I often notice either their looks or manners first. Not to say countenance is the most important thing, but as a grass-type, I do find myself prone to noticing such. And manners are important for obvious reasons! I do not wish to associate with ones with boorish tendencies. Such a lack of propriety perturbs me greatly.
From afar, I suppose countenance would be the first thing. Not just how they look, but how they carry themselves, and their actions. It would not do to run into an evil such as Team Rocket if you can avoid them before they spot you, be?
