[So there's a big old earth pony who's obviously not too light on his hooves jumping into that lake. No big deal, he's probably going swimming, right?

Only it's been quite some time, and he has yet to surface. Can the newpony swim in this pony body? WON'T ANYPONY SAVE HIM?

Really, he's just down there chatting with the fish, but he has no idea somepony might get the wrong idea.]

[OH NO! SOMEPONY IS DROWNING! Cue Minako jumping into to save him!!]

[Oh, cool, someone else is underwater here with him. HOORAY, ANOTHER SWIMMER.]

AHOY, THERE!

[And he'll smile, and he'll wave, and he'll seem generally not at all like he's drowning. There are a lot of fish milling around him, and they seem surprised to see someone falling in.

Also he is speaking underwater like it is the most natural thing in the world.]

[Oh, right, can't really talk underwater. She's not a seahorse.

Cue her hastily scribbling a note to him. Waterproof pen of course. Somehow. Just go with it Minako!]

Great Atlantis, of course I'm okay down here! I'm PERFECTLY at home in the water--it's where I LIVE most of the time! I'm AQUAMAN, KING OF THE SEVEN SEAS!

[If heroic echoes were possible underwater, that definitely would have echoed heroically.

He's now looking kind of quizzically at that pen and paper.]

Or is this some sort of game the kids are into?

UH NO ACTUALLY I CAME HERE BECAUSE I THOUGHT U WERE DROWN ING

[Oh crap, chest starting to hurt]

Drowning? ME? POPPYCOCK!

[Oh, wait, but he does know a potential drowning victim when he sees one. He holds a hoof to his head, and the fish spring into action!

Don't panic, Minako, the fish aren't attacking you. They're just trying to push you back to the surface. There are enough of them to do just that. TEAMWORK, GUYS.]

Don't worry, we'll get you back up to the surface!

Oh

Ooooooh, ok

And now she's back to the surface, taking some nice deep breaths. Excellent!

[The fish are just going to chill there as long as she needs something to float on. They're very helpful!]

But I do have to commend your OUTRAGEOUS HEROIC INSTINCTS for trying to save me first, even if I didn't really need it!

Well, I didn't want anything bad to happen if you were really drowning!

I think anypony in my shoes would hopefully do the same thing, right?

And one would HOPE anypony else would do just that!

[Wally had been perched on a cloud just outside Ponyville keeping an eye out for trouble or danger but it had been a very safe, very ordinary morning and after a good hour that felt like forever he was tempted to turn in for lunch.

But then an earth pony took a dive into the lake below and didn't come back up. For a moment he wondered if he was simply imagining that someone was drowning; it had only been a minute or two and some people- he'd guess ponies as well- could hold their breath up to two minutes. If the pony was drowning wouldn't he be flailing and panicking too? Just to be safe, Wally took the opportunity to change into his Kid Flash costume and stared more intensely at the lake below. Another thirty seconds passed.]

Where is he?

[He bit his lip. If this really was a drowning he was wasting precious time. He pulled his goggles over his eyes and then, backing up on the cloud and flapping his wings with great force, he leaped down, diving at speed into the water. Entering the water slowed him and left him disoriented at first. He turned about in the murky lake, looking for a sign of the pony but he didn't see anything. "Oh man. This is definitely not my specialty. Where's Aqualad when you need him?"]

WHY HELLO THERE

[Aquaman had not been expecting any other ponies to show up in the water, and he easily swims over to investigate the newcomer. He recognizes the basics of that costume in, well, in a flash.]

AHOY, Kid Flash! I can't say I was expecting to see you here!

[Come on, it's a big orange pony with a yellow mane, tail, and beard. He's got a trident on his flank. He's surrounded by fish and breathing and speaking underwater like it's nothing. That's got to be familiar enough, right?]

[Now that he gets a good look at the other pony and seeing how he effortless talks underwater it's pretty obvious who he's looking at.]

Ackwaaa Mmrr!

[Apparently the surprise of seeing someone he knows in Equstria is enough to make him forget he's underwater where he has no real ability to talk without choking himself. Eyes going wide he holds up a hoof to excuse himself and hurries back up to the water surface to cough and gasp for breath.]

[Aquaman surfaces along with Wally, if only because it's easier to hold a conversation that way.]

Easy there, Kid Flash, that's quite a dive for a surface-dweller! Tell me, is the Flash here with you, too?

[Did he get stuck here with the wrong sidekick? Now he's wondering if Aqualad and the Flash are stuck somewhere else as colorful penguins or something.]
