Yeah, Ponyville almost wasn't unscathed. The library was torched by Tirek when he fought Princess Twilight. Tirek was so strong he could absorb all magic; earth pony, unicorn, pegasus... Discord... even the power of the four alicorns.

He's a centuar, and according to what Princess Twilight told us, he came to Equestria centuries ago with his brother Scorpan. I was with the Wonderbolts tying to defeat him when he sucked out all of our magic, leaving us helpless. He grew stronger, more dangerous... it was only because the Princess and her friends had some kind of trump card that they defeated him with friendship magic. The Elements of Harmony were given up months ago, so we had to launch an all points assault on Tirek and we all fell...

[Tirek... absorbs others' magic? The implications do not sound good for Trixie.]

'Twould be no sweat for Trixie to beat... but that absorbing magic power sounds very dangerous. ...The Alicorn Amulet must never reach him. Ever.

NO! NO you don't understand, once he's within range, it's ALL OVER. He absorbed fifty pegasus's magic at ONCE. He absorbed all of the alicorn magic. He consumes all magic, and for a while Discord was helping him until Tirek turned on Discord and absorbed HIS magic.

HIS MAGIC. The EMBODIMENT OF CHAOS AND DISHARMONY. He just opened his mouth and sucked him dry. It's a miracle any of us are alive.

And many tell Trixie she exaggerates. Such a being would not even hope to be able to absorb that thing's magic.

[Yeah, kind of hard to believe such an outrageous claim of Discord getting his magic absorbed.]

But as you wish, Trixie shall keep distance from such a treacherous and unviably approachable monster. After all, Trixie's magic is her own and nopony else shall have it!

Believe me, you're not doing yourself any favors not knowing about Tirek. This... centuar, isn't even a person. He's just too evil for that. Flitter still has multiple nightmares a night about him.

If he gets a hold of you, there's nowhere to run. He doesn't care what you are, he will take your magic.

That implies such a beast is able to locate The Great and Powerful Trixie.
