[It's a new unicorn colt, looking rather nerdy in his glasses. He's taking it slow, rather obviously new on four feet.

Worrying about that horn on his head can come later, though his eyes seem to roll up toward it more than once. But first he needs to establish the situation...and hopefully make a good enough impression to find some shelter in this town. So he approaches with what he hopes is a friendly expression, though that worry's probably still clear in his eyes.]

Hi. Do you have a moment?

[ Applebloom was idly minding the family stall when Billy called out to her. She perked up immediately with a grin as she went into her sales pitch. ]

Well howdy thar, mister! We's got us some fresh apples today. Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Horseapples, anythin' y'all want. Whatcha hankerin' for?

[morphitudinous]

You don't have any magic apples that can reverse a sudden equine transformation, do you?

[Okay, it's a bad joke. He's really only half as cranky as he sounds---but whatever happened isn't her fault. It's probably not, anyway.]

Honestly, though, I don't have the currency of this planet. Or any currency at all.

Nope, ain't got none of those, I reckon. An' if yer thinkin' of tryin' t'become human, fergitaboutit. Ah used to be a teenage girl too before ah became a filly. It really ain't so bad once y'get used to it.

An' currency ain't no big of a deal. Here, have one on the family. Best apples ever.

[ And she held out a delicious looking Red Delicious. ]

You're sure it won't work? Well that's discouraging.

[Billy sighs and makes an awkward attempt at taking an apple. Eventually it ends up between his teeth, and he chews it clumsily. Having some food in him helps, but he's still worried sick.]

Was everyone here transformed like this?

Ah'm pretty sure. There's a mare here, Lyra who keeps tryin' but she's only managed Centuars and Satyrs an' Minotaurs. No humans.

[ At least he's able to eat, which is easier said than done. ]

Not e'eryone. There's a lot of out o'towners like ah am but there's a whole lot more that always lived here, or wus a pony before they arrived.

So there's some sort of magical interference?

[He frowns. Bad news. And that also raises questions about the strange thing on his head.]

So I'm guessing I'll be stuck for a while. Is there anything I'm supposed to do to help out?

Ah couldn't say. Ah'm only good at potions an' ah haven't had time t'talk to Twilight bout magic recently. Maybe? Ah mean if a unicorn doesn't know the right spell an' a alicorn princess o'magic doesn't either, well, we're stuck fer now.

[ Applebloom is at least sympathetic about his plight as she places a couple of apples in a bag via deft motions of her hooves. ]

Helpin' out the community is one thing. Y'can get a job or work on a farm or help ponies with research an' stuff. There's some kinda stipend fer newcomers, but I hooked up with mah big sister when ah got here so there ain't nuttin ah need t'worry bout unless I need some serious spendin' money real fast. 75 bits is a lot o'free money from th' bank yanno?

[Billy nods, glad to hear that at least. He then turns to a shiny object on the side, still shocked by his reflection.]

A unicorn? Is that what I am?

[He knows the stories and even has a mecha based on one, but these things should be discussed anyway]

Yeah, as clear as th' horn on yer head. There's four tribes o'ponies here; Earth Pony, Pegasus Pony, Unicorn Pony an' Alicorns. There's a few ponies in town that'll help y'wit yer natural magic like telekinesis which is the power t'lift things.
