Mia Watanabe | Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai

[Of all the strange things that has happened to Mia since becoming a power ranger...finding herself turned into a pink Pegasus surrounded by other ponies was not something she was ever trained for.

For the most part, though, she seemed to be taking it well enough...she wasn't freaking out, at least. She was worried about the others, though. Were they having this problem too?

So when she wasn't looking around - and trying to get used to walking in her new body - she was trying to get her cellphone morpher working. Or rather, she was trying to get the cellphone part working. It seemed she could still morph if she needed to, but it didn't seem to be working as a way of calling the others.

Which only worried her more.

With all that she had going on already, she didn't seem to notice the little hitchhiker riding on her back, settled between her wings. It appeared to be a turtle, nothing too unusual about it, perhaps just a bit smaller than normal turtles would be. But there also seemed to be a strange symbol in faded pink on its shell.]

[Oh, look, it's a blue unicorn trotting up. It's the phone that catches his eye.]

I'm afraid we don't have towers to transmit the signal here---unless your phone works another way?

[pinksky]

[She doesn't quite have control over the new...appendages of her body yet, so she can't help as her wings shoot up a bit at the sudden voice. She relaxes somewhat since he doesn't seem hostile...but just slightly.]

Well...it can work like a regular cellphone. But...

[She hesitates for a moment, not entirely sure how much she should really get into it.]

It's also able to contact others who have similar phones that's not quite...normal.

[triceratrots]

[Ah, that Billy understands.]

We use magic scrolls to communicate around here. You got one, right? And then there's another phone-like device you should receive shortly.

[He says that last part very quietly---it's a secret.]

[pinksky]

Scroll...?

[Glancing around, she does indeed find the scroll on her person - er...pony?

It's only then that she also finds the little guest on her back. And it takes her a moment, after noticing the symbol on her back, to realize what it might]

I-Is...Is that my Zord?

[She doesn't mean to say it out loud, but...was it possible? The folding Zords were alive in their own way, certainly, but...this was an actual turtle.]

[triceratrots]

[Billy's ears perk right up at that word.]

...does that zord grow in size? Say...enough to accommodate a pilot?

[pinksky]

[Only then does she realize her mistake, and she hesitates a bit before finally answering.]

Well...normally it would.

[She's not so sure about now.]

[triceratrots]

[Fascinating. Billy leans in to study it closely...then pulls back, a little shifty-looking.]

Are you a Ranger too?

[Yeah...he doesn't exactly try to keep a secret, so he hopes a confession will put her at ease.]

[pinksky]

['Too'? That has her relaxing even more, though she does seem curious.]

I...well, yes...I am. I'm the Pink Samurai Ranger.]

[triceratrots]

[He thought so. Billy's expression is now quite friendly, and he offers his hoof.]

I'm Billy, Blue Mighty Morphin Ranger. Pleased to meet you! It's been a while since I've met anyone else.

[pinksky]

[She can't help smiling a bit as she meets his hoof with her own. He might not be one of her teammates, but...finding another ranger at all was still comforting.]

I'm Mia Watanabe. It's nice to meet you, Billy.

[triceratrots]

[Billy sighs.]

As far as I know, we're the only Rangers here. There were others, but they've gone. But there are other superheroes with powers somewhat like ours, so we're not entirely alone.

I should probably tell you that my identity isn't a secret.

[He looks embarrassed by this.]

[pinksky]

Really?

[She can't help sounding a bit disappointed. So she was all alone? The others hadn't come either?]

But...where are we? And why are we...?

[She indicates herself with a hoof.]

[triceratrots]

[Billy takes in a deep breath.]

This is Equestria, a land of magic. It's ruled by the pony princesses, but all creatures live together in harmony. At least that's how it's supposed to be.

A long time ago, there was a wizard here who held enchanted portals to other worlds. A dark pony seeking to absorb everything found these mirrors and gathered us. At the moment, we're trying to reach her and get her to release what she's already absorbed.

At least that's my best hypothesis. I don't have all the answers.

[pinksky]

[For the most part she takes it well, as she listens to Billy's explanation.]

I see...

[And she thought Master Xandred was a problem.]

And coming here...changed us?

[triceratrots]

Passing through the mirror changed us. There are no humans in Equestria, so we had to change form.

It's awkward, but you get used to four legs after a little while.

[pinksky]

I see...

[Yeah, it was pretty strange. Especially as her wings seemed to flutter a bit on her own and nearly turn her over.]

Whoa...!

[triceratrots]

Hey!

[Billy reaches out a hoof to gently help her.]

...there are other pegasi you can ask for help with that, I'm sure. I wish I knew, but I'm just a unicorn. The magic's all right, but soon you'll know how to fly.

[pinksky]

[She's not even quite sure how she manages to hold his hoof without fingers, but she's not going to complain as he helps her right herself.]

I think I would have preferred the magic, honestly...

[That was at least a little more familiar.]

Considering how strange it is for a scientist to primarily use magic, I feel the opposite.

[He laughs a little.]

But you'll be all right. I believe there are even scroll spells that anyone can use, not just unicorns.

[pinksky]

I guess that would be true...although as a Power Ranger, I'm sure you've seen your fair share of magic anyway.

Really? What kind of spells?

[triceratrots]

There are all kinds of spells. Basic shields, elemental spells, simple levitation spells, gem-finding spells, teleportation spells...usually your talents as a human will determine which spells you master the fastest, but you can learn many with enough effort.

Personally i've taken to shielding spells. I guess I've always been the support of the team.

[pinksky]

Huh...that sounds really interesting. How do I learn them?

[triceratrots]

There are books full of them at the library. I can share those with you...and there's also a school for new ponies to teach those things---they'll teach you flight and anything else you might need.
