Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl - The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (Marvel 616)

'Squirrel Girl, Squirrel Girl! She's a human and also squirrel!
Can she climb up a tree? Yes she can, easily
That's why...her name is Squirrel Girl~!

Is she tough? Listen bud: She's got 100% squirrel blood
Can she fly in the air? Yes, but not on a dare
Oh yeah~! She likes to talk to squirrels~!

At the top of trees, is where she spends her time
Like a human squirrel, she enjoys fighting crime~!

Squirrel Girl, Squirrel Girl, powers of both squirrel and girl!
Finds some nuts, eats some nuts! Kicks bad guys' evil butts!
To her, life is a great big acorn! Where there's a new world crime-torn...

(Yep. A squirrel sang that whole song, with a few minor adjustments considering Doreen Green was a human squirrel only moments ago and now? She was a squirrel just getting used to her new surroundings.

At least she can fly in this new body if she's got to.)

...I know, if I could get anyone else to sing that song I'd have it made! Or, why didn't I change it a little more? At least, that's what Tippy would say if she was here. Personally, I like it the way it is!

But as to why I'm here, I just figured the suit's calibrated to go to different worlds at the drop of a hat. So, it's time for Squirrel Girl to put away the
suit for now -that she borrowed!- and go exploring!

After I have a few of these delicious nuts~!

It should be said that Kamala knew all of the Avengers by name and heart, so when she heard the familiar song float over the crisp evening air, she looked up. "Can't be..."

Taking a run over towards the direction, she found a squirrel sitting there, working on a pile of nuts. Now considering Winter Wrap Up had yet to commence, the squirrels were all asleep. Which meant...

"Excuse me," ventured Kamala. "But you wouldn't happen be... Squirrel Girl, would you? I heard the song across the way..."

[nutsandnobolts]

"Hmm? Yep-that's me! I kinda look different right now, but I still have my tail."

Doreen got up and stared at the pony for a few moments before smiling -could squirrels smile? Answer-yes they can!- and holding out a hand for her to shake.

"Did you wanna sing along? I've meant to make it a duet, but so far no luck."

"Oh my gosh oh my gosh, I knew it! I'm Kamala Khan, the new Ms Marvel!" Kamala was pronking around gleefully. "That's another superhero off the checklist of awesome people I need to meet!"

Feeling silly, she shook her head. "Um, in any case, sure I'd love to sing! Though I'm not good at it, much less theme songs." She shook her paw with a minimized hoof.

"Oh! I've heard about you from a few squirrels who frequent Jersey...you've done some amazing work! I'm Doreen Green, but keep that under your hat since I'm still trying out the whole secret identity thing...ha, but it probably doesn't matter now that we're in a new world." Doreen didn't mind Kamala's antics at all, but she nodded once shaking her hoof and cleared her throat.

"Anyway, normally I'd introduce you to Tippy but we were on an important mission and I was pulled here after I got knocked outta the sky! As for singing, it's no problem: you can jump in on the next verse after me. Here we go -'Squirrel Girl, Squirrel Girl! She's a human and also squirrel!

"People talk about me, other superheroes know about me!" With any luck, this was one step closer to another superhero team up, and her ultimate goal of meeting Carol in person. Nodding rapidly, she returned her hoof to its normal size.

"Tippy's your squirrel friend, right? All right, lemme try."

Clearing her throat, she continued the song.

Best... teamup... yet! Went her internal monologue.

"Of course! Well...in my case, it was squirrels but I can understand what they say." Doreen definitely wouldn't mind teaming up with the new Ms. Marvel! It seemed like they would have quite a lot of them the way things were going.

"That was incredible! You sing wonderfully, Kamala. Yes, she is and I hope she's doing okay back home...if home's still there! Okay, here's the next part!

She was pretty sure Kamala would believe her if she told her what was happening right now, but it was best she wait until they'd finished the song first.

Kamala came to a screeching halt, turning to stare at Doreen. "WAIT WHAT?! Run that by me again, what's going on back home?!"

Oh Allah above, was this going to hurt her family? What was going on? Where was Deadpool when you needed him for expose and a issue of a comic book?!

Crap. She should've been much quieter, or at least thought about it instead of muttering it. But if she was gonna be a true friend to Kamala, Doreen had to be honest.

It was what heroes did, after all.

"...Tippy told me that the squirrels were all talking about Galactus making his way to Earth. I'm sure he wants to feast on our home like he's done with countless other planets across the galaxy, but he made sure no one would see him coming by using a stealth field so they just see the stars and other planets! However, he didn't account for the squirrels and their own observatories.

"So, I got to borrow one of Iron Man's suits to go to the moon and convince him to take Earth off the menu...but Whiplash stopped me first and before I could do anything...I was pulled here. As far as I know, Tippy's still dealing with him!"

Kamala sort of just shut down for a moment as her brain rebooted. "You stole Tony Stark's suit? I mean suits? Plural?"

That was cool, she didn't know Doreen went to that length and honestly it was also kind of horrifying that while she was here, Galactus was bearing down on the planet. It was bad enough the last half dozen times he showed up, Richards threatened to send the planet to oblivion.

"... I hope your friend Tippy has a suit of her own or this will get reaaaaaaally bad."

[nutsandnobolts]

"...'Borrowed.' I'm Tony's pard, after all! And yes, Tippy has a suit of her own. Did you know they can reconfigure themselves to match your body structure?"

Doreen quickly bounded back over to eat a few more nuts before holding out some for Kamala.

"Are you hungry? Singing and finding out our home's under attack by a planet eater can work up an appetite."

Dazed, Kamala sat down as she took the nuts in a hoof. She could only think of her parents and brother, Bruno and Kiki... this was going downhill so fast. And to THINK she was excited to be in Planet Unicorn, er, Equestria!

"Okay..." She cracked a nut open. "There's... nothing to be afraid, really!" She exclaimed, trying to convince herself. "The big purple planet eater will be there when we get there, the world will still be safe... it's... fanfic 101 right? Time isn't passing while we're on Planet Unicorn... I think."

[nutsandnobolts]

"...Right! While we're here, time should be frozen so not even Galactus can eat the planet. We could be here for years together, and when we got back it'd be like we never left."

That was the theory, after all. Doreen could go with that, even as she ate a few more nuts and nodding in agreement to Kamala's near-frenzied comment. "How long have you been here, Kamala? Probably longer than me, I bet."

"I... kinda hope not. I mean, this place is great, but think of what Ammi and Abu are going to say when I come home and I've passed my 18th birthday. Bruno would freak too, along with Kiki." She exhaled. "Being inhuman is hard."

Tilting her head, she added, "Less than a week. I just showed up after this huge snowstorm."

"...Yeah, you have a point. Nancy would be surprised if I came back and I was much older than her." sighed Doreen, having heard of the inhumans through the squirrel network so no need for her to freak out.

"A snowstorm? Wait, is it still winter here? Should I be hibernating then?!" She didn't feel sleepy, but then again she'd never had 100% squirrel abilities or instincts before now.

"Well I heard something about Winter Wrap Up," she made quotes with her hooves. "So I guess they're ending Winter early. The people here in Equestria clean up the snow and bring in the warmer weather."

"Honestly I don't think you need to hibernate anymore."

[nutsandnobolts]

"Ohhh! So it doesn't come naturally here? Ponies take care of everything here?" Doreen munched on a nut and smiled at the 'air quotes' Kamala made. "That's amazing! Wonder what kind of job the squirrels have."

"So, it's called Equestria...? Awesome name! So almost everyone who's brought here is a pony?"

"There's a equivalent of Flutteringby here that takes care of animals. Maybe the squirrels are her eyes and ears like they are for you."

Kamala grinned a little at that. "I gotta admit it's pretty neat. I thought it was Planet Unicorn for a while but I got dissuaded of that fast."

[nutsandnobolts]

"'Flutteringby?' Is that some kind of pony? If they are, I can't wait to meet her! Or them..." Either way, Doreen would be intrigued to meet her at some point.

"Planet Unicorn...that sounds like it'd be a cool movie, or maybe an adventure park! Who or what changed your mind?"

"Yeah, in the comics she's a unicorn who takes care of animals. I think she's a pegasus here from what I heard." Said Kamala, gesturing at the wingspan.

"And well everyone said it was Equestria, so I left it at that!"

[nutsandnobolts]

"Ohhh...! That's amazing. So, there must be different types of ponies around instead of just Pegasus and...Earth ponies?" Doreen was totally guessing what type it was, but she was actually on the mark.

"Mmmn, just Equestria...yeah, I can see why it'd be best to leave it alone! Besides, if we're lucky this place will be exactly like home but with a few differences."

[ms_perfection]

"Unicorns too," said Kamala. "And dragons too, but I haven't seen any big scary ones like Fing Fang Foom. And even then, I'll bet you can take him down."

She had no compulsions about running away if FIng Fang Foom showed up. Kamala wasn't dumb, that was Avengers level territory.

"Haha yeah, no doubt. I've got a place in the hotel, wanna come with?"

[nutsandnobolts]

"Yeah...but even so, I'll need some help to bring down any scary dragons like Fing Fang Foom. What do you say, Kamala? The first Squirrel Girl/Ms. Marvel team up?"

Doreen's smile got a little bigger once hearing the offer to stay with Kamala, nodding eagerly.

"Sure! There are probably lots more trees than just these here, and when Winter Wrap Up comes and goes I can see if the other squirrels here can help me store some nuts. I'd love to room with you."

"Totally! Oh wow this is one for the records. I need a picture, please let my phone have a charge...!"

Digging out her phone, she let Doreen get on her shoulder. "Cheese!" She exclaimed, snapping it. "Just in time too, I'm about to run dead on batteries."

"Roomies it is!"

"Cheese!" Doreen flashed a quick smile as Kamala took the picture. "Don't forget to send it to my phone. I can use it as a wallpaper."

"So, if we have a President who runs things back home who takes care of everyone in Equestria?"
