[So, older!Gaignun here is just in his black earth pony form (being a changeling he kind of prefers it to whatever else he can be) minding his own business when he sees the black dragon.

[ Well, aside from the whole being a dragon thing (that's normally a dream a kid has, right, being a cool dragon or something?), it's difficult to tell if the weird feeling Nigredo is getting back is a part of it, or not.

I see. [ If you listen close enough, there's definitely disappointment there. ] Then perhaps you can help me.

[ As much as Nigredo has to think about, there is one person that's more important than anyone or anything else in the universe right now, and he has to find him before he loses his mind. ]

My brother. Rubedo. It's imperative that I find him.

[ Well, whatever he looks like now, anyways, but Rubedo's boisterous, so how hard could that really be? ]

Rubedo isn't...Rubedo isn't here. Neither is...anyone else. [By which he means Albedo and Citrine, but he's starting to have suspicions as to WHEN Nigredo is from.]

So you do know us. [ He'll sort that out later. Now he's starting to get forceful, just a tad. Man, whoever heard of a polite dragon, right? ] Then you'd know he'd be here.

I never denied that I knew you. But as much as I hate i--hate to admit it, he isn't here. [Nigredo, it's not like he could lie about this, you'd find out eventually.]

But you being here, this place isn't permanent. You'll go back to where he is, you aren't stuck here by yourself forever.

[Not like he isn't used to his own company, and he is not afraid of you.]

[ No, no, no, no, no.

The agitation shows more than he'd like, curling his new tail in towards his body, as if trying to flatten himself to the ground. This is not happening. This is not happening. And Gaignun's words hold water, yes, they're just not the ones he wants to hear. ]

I'm afraid it's everyone else I worry about. [ Obviously that calm tone doesn't fool himself, does it? ] No one else really knows how to handle him.

He's going to be fine, and so are you. This is going to work out. [He knows the calm is how Nigredo processes things. His voice is soft.]

You'll see him again before he does any damage.

[ "You're a liar", he almost says. Damage is already done, Rubedo can't be left alone, he's afraid of him being left alone, but there's something in that voice. Something he recognizes.

Like a song he's heard before. So Nigredo keeps it to himself, tight-lipped. ]

All right, [ he says after a moment, though his eyes drift away. ]

[He hears it in his heart though, and it is true. He is a huge liar. They both are.]

Are you hungry? That might help things look up a little.

Hungry? [ Not really, but... ] I was told I wasn't ready for solid food yet...

[ Does it really matter, with a changed body? ]

Ah...[So he is from then...and so close too.]

You'll have to take it slow then, especially since this place has seen fit to give you the body of a dragon...We'll have to speak to some of the other dragons around here to see what you can eat, as it's probably different from the ponies.

[And changelings, but Nigredo can find out about that later]

[ Rather ironic that the dragon slayer would be that which it was supposed to rail against. Part of Nigredo wants to protest. Still uncertain, but Gaignun is as close to anyone who understands as he's sure it's going to get.

Though the reasons why aren't the same as what he'd originally thought. He doesn't see himself becoming Gaignun. Why would he? He's 12. ]
