Well, wonders never cease for us to be in agreement. I suppose some things are simply so evident that even we can't argue about them.

Margulis, there is most likely a lot of things we agree on, though maybe for different reasons.

And yet we still manage to bicker whenever a subjective topic comes up.

*Old habits...*

We're both argumentative by habit Margulis, it's just part of our jobs. We also both like to think that we're right, or that at least our side is.

Sometimes admitting to faults can be more difficult than continuing a fruitless argument.

*He shakes his head slightly.*

At any rate, there's as little cause for true hostilities here as there was in Prospero. Though you will be pleased to know that this world has yet to subject us to seemingly random and entirely unavoidable phenomena since my arrival.

How true. At any rate, I'm glad we wont be pitted against each other again, and I am really glad to hear that this world stays a bit more stable. That was just getting awful.

It was frustrating, to say the least. The problems here actually seem somewhat familiar...political tension and conspiracies that likely run far deeper than anything on the surface would suggest.

So, do we have to deal with factionalism too or are we at least free of that hurdle?

From what I've seen, this nation itself seems fairly unified, despite being populated by a variety of sentient species. The only exception I've seen is a certain level of mistrust regarding a race of shapeshifters, though my reading has led me to believe that's in part because of a former leader of their kind who was hostile to the rest of the world.

[Give him a minute Margulis, this has to sink in. What do you mean different species don't tend to hate each other and use politics to launch smear campaigns]

That's...I never thought I'd see something like that.

Nor did I, although certain tales suggest it wasn't always that way. You might wish to spend some time in the library yourself to familiarize yourself with the local legends.

A library? I will be certain to make that one of my earliest stops. If it has something useful about this world, then it would be invaluable.

The local library has common lore. If you care to do more extensive research, there is a royal library two hours away by train. If you go that route, I suggest you ensure you have plenty of time available and possibly something to ensure against getting lost.

Well, considering this place is also not home, once I get settled and some things in order, I will have nothing but time. At least comparatively.

I wouldn't count on that too much. Calling this town lively at times would be on the optimistic side.

I guess even with out random events things still manage to keep fairly busy here, huh?

With this many offworlders, it's only natural. And this town seems to have a knack for being the center of larger scale events. As an example, we recently had to deal with an entire cloud based city being brought here by angry griffons from another nation attempting to steal it due to an artifact they used to control the weather being stolen by a pegasus resentful of them due to conflicting mythologies surrounding the origins of the object.

*...Two years ago, that whole thing would have sounded patently absurd to him.*

By recently deal, it sounds like you've brought that to a close already. However, I do take your point about that sort of thing being an example of some of the level of things to be expected here, no?

*Margulis is pretty sure the griffons' story has a better chance of being true, given what his own research turned up. Not that he doesn't still think stealing the city was dumb.*

More or less...though I hope to avoid anything on an international scale in the future.

And one more thing you might find of interest...there's a dungeon here, located beneath the royal library. I've heard rumors of objects from other worlds being found down there.

Like Caliburn? Or does it actually have a cohesive structure?

I have yet to visit it myself, so I couldn't tell you. However, I have seen a recording of someone else's visit and the monsters seem more varied yet generic than Shadows.

I'm surprised you haven't delved your way in there. I guess you haven't had the time then?

I've been busy familiarizing myself both with the local culture and the innate abilities of my new body. I had to take some time to adjust to fighting without the use of hands, as well.
