• What are your characters getting their CR for Hearth's Warming*? If someone's at a loss of what to do, this could also be a good place to handwave some conversations and/or tell a mun OOCly what your characters like.

*Replace "Hearth's Warming" with Christmas, Hanukkah (although it's going to be a very late Hanukkah), Kwanzaa, Festivus, Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day, winter solstice, or any number of holidays from your character's world, if you wish.

All York wants for Christmas Hearth's Warming is a carton of cigarettes, a basket of biscuits, and a handful of nostalgic 80's films to sit down and laugh at.

Handy has been wanting a proper Christmas -- if it hadn't been for the death and so forth (and my forgetfulness), he probably would have gone to town decorating the commune this week. With Bertie and Pollo dead and Handy having gone through the emotional wringer with his own shadow he's not so enthusiastic, though he'd still probably try to put something together even under present circumstances. When they come back, man, he needs to go nuts trying to put together a Christmas on short notice.

Donna will help with this, though her impression of Christmas is pretty poor. I mean, you almost get fed to spider monsters once and it just ruins things. Hearth's warming she can get into, though!

Bertie would also love a proper Christmas and try to help out.

Arcee doesn't understand holidays that don't celebrate important victories or what have you, she finds them pointless. So chances are she's going to be thinking everyone is being a big dumb. And will probably be reminded of Earth. It's not like she misses anyone there b-baka. ...Although now that I think about it, unlike Christmas, she might be a little more understanding towards Hearth's Warming since it does sound more like a victory than magic Santamans do. Either way, someone might need to help her out since she's still not 100% adjusted to civilian life. ...As a cat no less. You don't have a lot of time to celebrate in war.

Also someone should make her a sweater. She needs to stay warm this winter. Don't judge me.

Since there are so many ponies on the commune now, Donna is going to suggest a secret Santa style of gift giving so they don't all go bankrupt and no pony gets left out who wants in. Once Bertie and Pollo come back, I'll have her set that up ICly and run a RNG list of participants to let everybody know who they got via PM. Have fun trading gifts, then!

Bertie, meanwhile, will be recently risen from the dead and all about the YAY, NOT DEAD party thing. He's just going to try to not think about the fact that he got murdered and try to cheer everyone else up, which is, of course, the healthiest coping mechanism ever. Happy during the day will make up for the nightmares, anyway. So, he'll be 110% good cheer at every pony over the holiday and trying to make up to those that his shadow harassed.

He'll help out with any decorating that goes on at the commune, particularly hanging lights and garlands.

Lets go down the list.

Gentarou will be making up a huge christmas thing. Gift giving is a big thing in Japan so is finding a date but he's still derpy about that and will probably find Mako, Yayoi, Utchy, et-all and get them presents. Leave a comment if your character wants a Gen present.

Ako will be spending her time wherever the Apples do their things. She's been bonding with Apple Bloom off-screen and is pleased as punch to know that Nozomi found someone special in a friend-related sort of way to spend time with.

Lyra does what she does every year: put up a tree, get gifts for ponies alike and go to the play in Canterlot. She doesn't have much outsider CR but can totally invite Trixie and Elena and the Flutters and Co over for dinner if they want.

Flash and Pinkie will spend their holidays together jointly with people, Maytwi, the other Pinkies and Cakes, Lucia, etc. There'll be a big big big-fuckhuge christmas party at the Cakes when the 25th rolls around for anyone who wants to crash it too. So be looking out for that too.

Most of Mako's friends will be getting hoofmade wreaths from her, since she can't afford to buy actual present-type things. Not only will Gentarou be getting one, Ako will too just because of her connection to Nozomi.

Hayate has decided to start making large, uppercase Ds out of...various things, because she still has no idea why she ended up with that thing and figures she can probably earn some money making a market for them.

As a Hearthwarming gift, Hayate is gonna give everypony the D. Cecil gets double Ds because he didn't abuse his absolute and total authority over Hayate.

Trixie Lulamoon: She doesn't really celebrate Hearth's Warming instead of telling the Hearth's Warming story. She also interprets the story as getting together through unity, not friendship. So there's that.

The Flutters: They'll celebrate Hearth's Warming with the rest of the main 6. They may be generally up for anything involving them.

Hiro Nakamura: He doesn't really celebrate Xmas, but he's heard of it. He's Japanese, he celebrates Japanese holidays, but he can be up to experimenting with Hearth's Warming.

Actually the Japanese do celebrate it, but not in the religious way. Usually it's treated more like a couples holiday than anything. But there's nothing wrong with him wanting to experiment with Hearth's Warming.

I'm going to be waiting until tomorrow's new episode to see if Christmas in Night Vale actually entails something I wasn't expecting, but for now I'm going to assume that Cecil will be making arts-and-craftsy tarantula ornaments for whatever the Commune decides to decorate the place with.

Because it's not Night Vale without copious amounts of spider references everywhere. Depending on how his stint in Episode 36 ended in canon, I might also canon update him either from this next episode or from "Condos", whenever that comes up.

He's a bit strapped for cash so anything he gives people will probably be homemade, but he will be doing the Christmastime bloodstone chanting that I assume is the norm.

Gwen, meanwhile, has no idea that there's a holiday coming up, since in her AU-ified version of the Pokemon universe there's no such thing as Abrahamic religions. People in her universe are normally henotheistic by default, but any mention of Earth religions to her is going to be met with much confusion. Seriously, this girl knows Arceus-worship, giant-firebird-worship, and dragon-worship, and isn't particularly devout to any of them. (She also knows, faintly, of elemental titan-worship and wyvern/rainbow-deer worship)

This does not, however, mean that delicious hot beverages are unknown to her! So she may be making eggnog and/or mulled hot wine for people.

Still don't know what she'd get people as gifts, though.

As an Unovan, Mako is most used to dragon-worship, but she's no longer particularly devout. It is hard to worship a dragon-god when you have rubbed his tummy and fed him pastries.

She will probably end up giving Gwen, like...a homemade wreath or something, since she's actually pretty close to perpetually broke.

Nozomi will be spending time with Ako and the Apples as well, though she'll try to figure out how to drag some of her other friends into this, especially Mako. As well, she'll be TRYING to get gifts for everyone she can, but pink Cures and creativity don't go hand and hand.

Derpy shall celebrate it like all the other pone here, going so far to deliver gifts via mail. Here's hoping nothing's fragile!

Once she learns about what Christmas even is, Neph will be more than happy to get into the festive mood and give a bunch of presents. A lot of folks are going to get homemade cookie bundles. Closer friends/battle buddies will get other things.

Pollo and Bertie are getting a million and one hugs, but I am actually unsure what she's getting other folks. She's probably going to make a pretty dress for Gwen, and get a nice dagger for Utchy. That's all I know at this point.

Ponies I know are getting special things are Bertie, Utchy, Morgan, Gwen, Mae, Jeeves, Dante, Arcee, Mabel, Patchouli, Pierrot...

Patchouli isn't usually big into the whole celebrating thing, but if anyone says they're going to give her something, she will at least return the favor. Probably in the form of a book.

Spark won't be buying presents for anyone; he'll be making them instead. Pretty much everyone he's met will get something, be it a toy or tool or some random knick-knack.

Minato will be more on the side of helping to decorate the town, but a few people will be getting presents from him. Nothing extravagant, as he's short on cash since he's only arrived recently, but he'll find something.

I headcanon that Cerilia actually HAS a holiday, though it's more like a Midwinter Festival than anything else. There are holy days through there too, but uh, elves don't believe in gods, oops.

So far, the people who rate something from Mae for SURE are Nephenee, Hiro, Gen, Lucia, Morgan, and EG Pinkie. Pierrot, Trixie, Dante, and Zetta will also potentially get stuff, I'm not sure what yet, but it's probably food. (Actually, Trixie I am almost sure will be getting some sort of throat soothing tea, something to drink after shows where she's been projecting her voice a lot. Beyond that...I'unno.)

and after Shadow Plot ends there might be other additions too, we will see.

As for Hiro, depending on how the fight against the shadow goes, he'd either gladly accept and return with a gift of his own or just cautiously accept and try to get away from Maebhrin. However, if my Genre Savvy sensors work, I expect the former to happen.

Pinkie will probably be throwing some kind of holiday party or something. I'm too beat right now to plan anything, but I'm sure I'll put something up at some point. She'll also be getting everyone in the game a tin of homemade cookies, at the very least. A lot of people will be getting other things as well. There's too many people for me to do a list, just ask if you want to know what specifically she got for yours.

Harvey will just want to stay home for the holidays and relax for once. Also, I just realized that I'd been considering the idea of him releasing an album of Hearth's Warming songs, since that was in the works for him back home when he got here. I may post for that shortly. His friends can expect complimentary copies, but those won't count as Christmas presents.

Pollo will probably have some kind of mental breakdown upon coming back to life, but if someone can calm him down and drag him out of hiding, this is his first ever Christmas-type-holiday and it would be good for him to have fun. He'll probably stress unnecessarily about getting his friends really nice presents. Like, a lot.

After how the Shadow event went, Surprise will actually be in a good mood and the holiday spirit. Those she knows can expect to get hand made gifts that...aren't great, but it's the love that counts.

Jappleack doesn't necessarily care about the holidays, but will try and enjoy the holidays as much as she can. This includes hanging wreathes made of apples where they aren't wanted and probably going around town making horrible, horrible snowponies/snowpeople/snowthings.

Lucifer will be in the bar throughout most of it, drinking and sharing stories about the season. Which he can usually be found doing anyway, so it's nothing particularly different for him.
