*He just rolls his eyes. He does not enjoy having hooves, Kukai. But the recognition and lack of hostility answer his question enough for the wariness to fade.*

A country called Equestria, though I couldn't tell you the name of the planet offhand...even if I wasn't lacking in that department at the moment. It's yet another world that has the unfortunate tendency to attract outsiders against their will.

So this isn't one of Prospero's shenanigans. [Sigh, that isn't good] Is this... [he raises a hoof] normal for here then?

Hardly, I haven't even been in that town for months and yet here I am. Unfortunately, everyone here is transformed upon arrival, most commonly into some form of equine or a dragon, though I have occasionally seen those with other forms as well. Nothing humanoid as of yet and the forms all seem to be creatures native to this place.

[A dragon? Yet here he is stuck as a horse, this slightly offends his love of flashy but he won't voice that disappointment for now.]

I see. I don't suppose you'd be willing to give me an update to this situation?

I'm a fairly recent arrival, so my information is limited. Most of what I know comes from the books of history and legend in this place, and recent events have led me to believe that the line between them has been blurred enough that it's difficult to ascertain the truth.

On a more day to day level, however, there is something akin to an apartment complex meant to house new arrivals while they gain their bearings and secure a source of income. Nakagawa and I are currently making use of it and you'll probably end up doing the same, unless you happened to be carrying a large amount of physical money during the transition.

Credit card...which I don't seem to have anymore. Though to be honest I doubt it would work here.

[He's gonna have to go from ground up again, isn't he. Darn it.]

So Saori is here as well? How is she faring? Is she doing alright?

She's doing as well as ever. She's working on re-establishing her tea house and is determined to use her world-hopping expertise to try to put an end to this situation. Though there is quite a bit you've missed, lingering in that miserable excuse for a town.

[Gaignun just laughed, clearly delighted at this news] Good for her. It means I'll be able to have something half decent to eat here if she's setting up the tea house again.

Knowing her, she'll have this all sorted soon enough.

It may still take a while, but we both know she isn't the sort to give up easily.

I'm certain your arrival will only inspire her further. Hmph, it might even be like old times.

Is there anyone else from Prospero here? Or is it just you two. [Give him a second as he sorts out his dignity to start walking.]

Just the three of us at the moment. I don't suppose you have any news of import beyond Nakagawa's departure from that place?

Not...really. [Gaignun looks away for a moment, trying to think.] The last bit, much of it is a blur. I think a lot of people had left and any organization we had was in shambles.

That matches what I remember...so it seems we're from roughly the same point in time. Either that, or nobody managed to accomplish anything after Nakagawa left. A pity, I was hoping things there might have been resolved before fate saw fit to bring you here.

[Gaignun shook his head, though this extra puffy hair was starting to bother him]

I'm afraid not. It just started going in circles, going no where.

We lost far too many of our most effective investigators. At the very least, perhaps the rate of disappearance is an indication that Prospero was losing its grip on us.

I think...[Gaignun looked up at the sky] I think something in it just gave up whatever it was doing.

Likely for the best. As much as I desire the truth of the reason for our arrival there, the highest priority was always putting an end to the abductions.

Indeed. But you know? I'm actually somewhat grateful for that place. It was nice knowing what it was like being just some average human walking down the street.

Hmm...I suppose I owe Paschar a certain amount of gratitude as well. However, I would be quite content had certain moon effects not occurred.
